Kate (Coach Kate or Ms Kate) graduated from UNC Wilmington and moved to Mechanicsville, VA in the summer of 2022. Kate started swimming competitively at age 5. She continued to compete for summer league teams, year round teams, in high school and for three years in college. Kate has also been a swim instructor for almost 25 years. She has taught since she was 14 and before moving to Mechanicsville, she was the swim coordinator at the YMCA in Wilmington, NC for 15 years. Her favorite stroke to teach is butterfly but she also loves teaching the younger kids how to go underwater and become more comfortable in the water. When Kate isn’t swimming she loves spending time with her family, going to the beach and homeschooling with her kids.
